Summer SAVY Session 6, Day 4, Cracking the Case
Our crime investigators are working hard again today. Students practiced looking for forged signatures today. They also analyzed a teacher’s gradebook that was suspected of students altering grades! They discovered the changes by looking very closely at the ink. Students then began to analyze and collect hair samples. They looked under a microscope to see the difference between a hair that has been plucked or fell out naturally.
Students worked to achieve these daily objectives through our labs:
- Identify the visible differences of molecular compositions in ink solutions
- Compare and contrast ink solutions
- Apply evidence from ink solutions to a criminal case
- Describe the relationship between scientific evidence and suspects in a criminal case
