Summer SAVY Session 6, Day 2, Forces of Nature
Whew! We went over a lot of basic and complex information about wind and weather, energy, electricity, and mechanical engineering. The students were able to complete their story element packet based on the chapter book Leif Catches the Wind and relate it to the Engineering Design Process (EDP). The students had the opportunity to build windmill blade prototypes. It was exciting to see all of the different blades the students created. We were able to test a few today & will finish up tomorrow.
P.S. IF YOU HAVE A HALF GALLON JUICE BOX TO DONATE FOR OUR WINDMILL CREATIONS, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thoughts and questions to discuss this evening:
- What are some new things you learned about energy?
- What are some new things you learned about electricity?
- List items/objects that are conductive to electricity and insulators
- Draw & label a simple circuit
