Summer SAVY Session 4, Day 1, Animal Adaptations (Kent)
Day 1: It was wonderful to meet our eager animal experts today. We started our day by discussing what scientists do and we played the I Have Who Has Scientist game which taught us about a variety of different scientists.
We then discussed basic needs for survival and related this to our classroom mealworms and discovered how we would meet their needs.
After observing and describing our mealworms we discussed different life cycles. We defined metamorphosis and made connections to animals we know about.
Questions to ask over dinner:
- What is a mealworm? Is it an invertebrate?
- What stage of its life cycle is the mealworm in?
- What does metamorphosis mean?
