Summer SAVY Session 3, Day 5 – Transformations in Writing
Day 5: On our last day of summer camp, we really enjoyed ourselves.
To start the morning, we all took a post-test to see what we had improved on over the week. We finished our transformations comics with figurative language and gave our classmates time to read theirs!
Our afternoon began with a class read-aloud of our writing pieces. It was so fun hearing and seeing what our classmates’ stories were. Many of us knew the characters that had been created but hadn’t had a chance to hear the full plot yet. It was amazing to see our young writers confidently showing a fully edited piece. I know that they will take this knowledge back with them to school this fall.
At long last, we finally were able to play our character board game. As a class, we weaved together all of our characters for one big board game partnering the individual skills in a way that was exciting to play. The students even designed the board mat themselves.
It’s been a great week here in Transformation Land. I’m wishing each student a wonderful summer and a successful start to the new year. See you next time!
