Summer SAVY Session 3, Day 3 – Transformations in Writing
Day 3: Halfway through the week, and every day the students are diving deeper into their stories! In the morning, the students discussed figurative language, and how it can add or take away from a story. They worked with a partner to come up with examples for similes, metaphors, hyperboles, and many more! Then, they were given an example text and explored the text to find examples of figurative language in the story. They were able to see how figurative language can boost a story and transform it to be more interesting and vibrant!
After ORA, our community finished our transformation comics. Wow! What an amazing and diverse group of stories told through pictures. Our afternoon consisted of taking a trip over to the Peabody Library where the students could pick out books and take the time to read in the amazing kids’ section! Furthermore, the students were able to discuss with one another the transformations and cool things they read about while they were in the library!
