Summer SAVY Session 3, Day 1 – Transformations in Writing
Day 1: Transformations are at the heart of every aspect of society. No matter whether we are changing as beings or changing our perspectives, we can see great or small transformations at the core. Within this course, the students will have the chance to see how authors can transform stories in big and small ways. Each day the students will create their own stories, and work together to cultivate new transformations in their writing that they can continue to practice each day and in the future.
Today, through story, we learned about the elements of various types of transformations, and what possible effects they can have. The students watched clips from Disney and Pixar movies to observe how big and small transformations can affect a story. Then, students picked out a favorite character of theirs and discussed how they transform in their story! We ended the day by starting on our own transformations in written form with characters that we picked earlier in the day!
