Summer SAVY 2023 Session 1, Day 2 – Agricultural Engineering
Day 2: Agricultural engineers continued to explore the Engineering Design Process by creating their own insects today. First, we learned the criteria for classification as an insect. With this knowledge, students designed an insect and created the design. Students were given the choice to make a model of an existing insect, improve an insect by making changes, or create their own insects. We even walked outside to gather materials for our insects and make observations about real insects!
In the afternoon, we read a text in which the main character practiced the habits of an agricultural engineer by collecting data about pollinators. We also watched a video about hand pollinators and made revisions to yesterday’s design ahead of their construction!
Have a wonderful evening!
Warmly, Ms. Marshall and Ms. Yuka
