Summer SAVY 2018: Session 4, Day 4 – Intro to Coding and Robotics (Rising 1st)
Dear SAVY Parents,
We can’t believe that tomorrow is our last day! What amazing work your child has taken on this week!
Consider viewing this image and discussing the following questions with your child: Should we delegate puppy training to machines? Why or why not? Can machines offer love and affection, necessary for puppy development, as effectively? How can we determine what tasks to delegate to machines?
We had opportunity to consult a historical text (way back from 1961) to learn about the definitions of machines and robots. Is this still accurate to today understandings? What can we learn about “ancient machines”. What does your child know about a clepsydra?
We were very pleased to gain more skill with “command and control” of the Sphero robots for drawing shapes and letters. Can we send emergency message using this technology if needed? So many other questions!!
Please join us tomorrow for Parent Open House from 9:00 – 9:30 in the Wyatt Computer Lab on the 1st floor. We look forward to sharing what we’ve learned and what we hope to learn in the future about coding and programming.
