SAVY 2019: Session 5, Day 5 – Makings of America (Rising 3rd/4th)

Posted by on Friday, July 19, 2019 in Grade 3, Grade 4, SAVY.

Dear SAVY Parents,

Sincerest appreciations to you for making this week’s activities available to your child.  We had a tremendous time learning and struggling with huge concepts and an abundance of content.  It seemed to be a rich experience that benefited each student and instructor in our course.
We concentrated on three documents today: The Olive Branch Petition, Common Sense by Thomas Payne, and of course the Declaration of Independence!  We also listened to “One Last Time” fromHamilton and reflected on the beneficial relationship of Washington and Hamilton as well as the monumental importance of Washington’s 32-page farewell address.  These words remain relevant today in their important wisdom and warnings and inspire us to remain diligently protective and devoted to the foundations of our unique government system.
It was our delight to share our class products with you and to hear the discourse from the students.  The future is bright!  Enjoy the rest of the summer!
Mrs. Byrd
