SAVY 2019: Session 5, Day 4 – Makings of America (Rising 3rd/4th)

Posted by on Thursday, July 18, 2019 in Grade 3, Grade 4, SAVY.

Hello SAVY Parents,

Another amazing day in Colonial America. By the end of the day, we had officially Declared our Independence!
In the morning, we looked more closely at the life of George Washington through personal and official letters and other text that he found valuable.  We continue to observed his ability to “know self”, seek out roles and affiliations, and work to develop a positive identity for himself (and our young country as a result).   We will continue to compare the life events and aspirations of Alexander Hamilton with these same processes as well.  What ways are we as students developing our own positive identities?  How well can we evaluate our personal skills sets, interests, abilities and aptitude?  In what ways are we seeking roles and affiliations to take us further in our personal development?  If Washington and Hamilton had not worked together in ways that complimented each other’s skills and style, what would possibly have been the outcome of the Battle of Trenton?  …of the War for Independence?
Throughout the day, we continued to understand and reflect on events with a timeline as well as unpack some extremely advanced vocabulary. We use these words to communicate ideas and clarify understandings in our discussions.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at Open House from 3:15-3:45.
Mrs. Byrd
