Summer SAVY 2019: Session 3, Day 4 – Powerful Programming (Rising 3rd/4th)

Posted by on Thursday, June 27, 2019 in Grade 3, Grade 4, SAVY.

Our coders were hard at work today! Everyone has now created a model that they are excited to share at tomorrow’s open house. Yesterday we learned the importance of scientists working together to solve problems during our lab tour so today we spent time troubleshooting our code in small groups. After discussing code with teammates, students were able to use what they learned to modify and improve their own models. Collaboration is such an important part of programming!

This afternoon, we then had an authentic audience join us to view our models and further help us tweak and improve our code and models. We’re grateful to the four members of the Vanderbilt community who participated!

If you are unable to attend tomorrow’s open house, you can view your student’s model by downloading NetLogo onto your computer from http://netlogoweb.org/ then opening your student’s model at http://tinyurl.com/PowerPro3. Additional resources are available at http://models-and-modeling.org/camp/powerpro.html. We hope you’ll continue coding even after our class ends!
