Summer SAVY 2018: Session 4, Day 1 – The Great Debate, Mrs. Kraft (Rising 3rd/4th)
The first day is usually the hardest, since we have so many huge topics to touch on before we move into practice, but these kids made it easy. Wow. We got to know each other with a concentration game, and then moved right into Socrates, Plato, philosophy, and even a couple of logical fallacies. Then we got to argue…in the good way. Everyone’s table worked on their own topics and both sides of the argument until it was time to debate at the front of the class. Everyone was respectful, even when they had the fidgets, and we learned a lot about our opinions vs. facts. It was a super successful day and I can’t wait until tomorrow! Thanks!
