Summer SAVY 2018: Session 2, Day 5 – Investigations in Forensic Science (Rising 2nd)

Posted by on Friday, June 22, 2018 in Grade 2, SAVY.

What a great week! I can’t believe our week has already ended here at SAVY Session 2. I want to express how thankful I am for the opportunity to work with your children this week. We had so much fun solving the case and seeing how science is used to prove the guilt or innocence of suspects!

Today after Open House, we finished up our final lesson by looking at fibers under the microscope. Once again, we took a deeper look into what makes up the small parts of the bigger things around us. We saw the intricacies and tiny particles that actually form one tiny fiber. We examined the crime scene one final time and found one TINY piece of fiber evidence left behind. The fiber was black and matched one of our suspects clothing! We were able to determine that….(drum roll please)… MS. RACHEL WAS THE ONE WHO TOOK THE IPAD! She sent a video explaining that she only took my Ipad so that she could surprise me with an upgrade! SO kind of her!

All in all, we had a great week together! Below are some links to a few of the videos and activities we did in class if your child would like to do these at home with you! I’m also including the powerpoint from our Open House with a few snapshots from this week. I hope your child learned lots of new things and now has a new interest into solving mysteries!

Have a great summer,

– Ms. Mills
