Summer SAVY 2018: Session 1, Day 2 – Biology and the Body (Rising 5th and 6th)

Posted by on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in Grade 5, Grade 6, SAVY.

Today in Biology of the body we had the opportunity to learn and explore how the immune system gives us protection. We learned about the different components of the immune system, how they work together and in some cases how disease affects these organs. Then we briefly reviewed the respiratory system, which we learned about in yesterday’s lesson.

After the review session we watched a video on how the immune system functions and a video on lymphocytes and phagocytes. After learning about the amazing white blood cells aka leukocytes we made super cool immune cell bookmarks and they came out looking amazing! We also started today our new vocabulary wall, in which each student selects a new word they learned in any of the lessons. Today was a super fun, creative and informative session! Ask your student what their favorite part of class was, and why!
