Spring SAVY 2018, Day 2- Ecological Expedition (1st/2nd)

Posted by on Monday, February 5, 2018 in Grade 1, Grade 2, SAVY.

Happy Second Day!

Today the students created concept maps about themselves to share with their peers. They also conducted a gallery walk to view and ask questions about each other’s generalization posters.  Afterwards, they were totally engaged in a quick debate on: Should humans cut down tree for purposes of shelter or safety? They stood on opposite sides of the room to defend their point of views. I was totally impressed with their variety of responses.

As artists they explored the cover of the Great Kapok Tree paying close attention to the interactions that they saw. They discussed which generalizations and interactions were noticeable from the cover. They were also given the opportunity to design a new cover for the story that use different colors that capture the mood of the generalizations and interactions that they discussed.

Sincerely,

Dr. P. 🙂
