Fall SAVY 2017, Day 5- Adventures in Algebra (1st/2nd)

Posted by on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in Grade 1, Grade 2, SAVY.

Happy Fifth Day!

Today the students continued to brainstorm things that were special to them and convert these things from simple to complex equations. They were introduced to advanced math concepts such as square roots and exponents. They were fascinated to learn that any number to the exponent of zero is 1, and any number with an exponent of one is that number. They were so fascinated by these two concepts that they changed some of their personal equations to include these two new concepts.
The majority of the day was spent on the students’ project that they are so eager to share with you this Saturday. They put their personal touches to their projects by using various colors and personal information that is important to them. They will continue to finalize their projects during the first half of the class session on Saturday. See you then.

Thank you,

Dr. P. ☺
