Summer SAVY 2017, Session 6/Day 4- Survive and Thrive (Rising 1st)

Posted by on Thursday, July 27, 2017 in SAVY.

Happy Fourth Day!

Today the students continued to design and create the habitats for their mealworms. They observed their mealworms and documented any noticeable changes. They wrote short blogs and stories about their mealworms to be shared with you tomorrow. They learned that mealworms go through a complete body change (metamorphosis). I was proud to see the students working and acting like real scientists while reflecting on what they learned through their observations and conversations with each other. They are really excited about showcasing their mealworms’ habitats tomorrow. They will be able to take their mealworms, lab journals and coats (t-shirts), and folders home tomorrow; therefore, we will review proper care of the mealworms. The students were also introduced to the generalization that “change can be manmade or natural”.

Sincerely,
Dr. P. 🙂
