Summer SAVY 2017, Session 6/Day 2- Survive and Thrive (Rising 1st)

Posted by on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in SAVY.

Happy Second Day!

Today the students took a nature walk observing the generalization of “change is everywhere.” They also delved into a math challenge activity entitled “The Goalpost Puzzle” while learning that there are different ways to solve a problem. The students were encouraged to share their ideas in class so that their classmates could benefit from the creativity that filled the room.

The students also reviewed the science safety rules by setting up the habitats for their mealworms. As scientists, they learned the importance of providing dates and time for their observations and journaling. They will begin doing research on mealworms and their characteristics. They will learn the life cycle of mealworms and how to properly care for them.

Sincerely,

Dr. P 🙂

Homework (optional):
Research the eating habits of a meal worm. What do mealworms eat?
