Summer SAVY 2017, Session 6/Day 1- Industrial Microbiology (Rising 4th/5th)

Posted by on Monday, July 24, 2017 in SAVY.

Hello Parents and Students-

We had a great first day!

We learned all about microbiology and what it means to be a scientist! We went over good bacteria and bad bacteria as well as some crazy ones that can live in temperatures near boiling, like Yellowstone National Park!

As a class we sampled pond water and examined it under different magnifications. The pictures below show what each group saw.

Great Job Guys!

We also examined DNA to see what its made out of, and it turns out ATGCC…etc also looks a lot like white glop.
