Summer SAVY 2017, Session 4/Day 4- Intro to Programming (Rising 6th/7th)

Posted by on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in SAVY.

Today students learned about functions as a way to make their code more abstract and modular. We practiced using functions by writing functions to identify the divisors of a number, determine whether a number is prime, and determine the intersection of two lists.

In the afternoon, students planned and began writing code for their hangman games, which will use their new knowledge of lists and functions from the past two days. At the end of the day, we heard from a guest speaker who is a civic hacker, meaning he uses his python coding super-powers for good!

Tomorrow, we will finish up our hangman games and are excited to show them off at open house!
