Summer SAVY 2017, Session 4/Day 3- Intro to Programming (Rising 6th/7th)

Posted by on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in SAVY.

This morning, students started pair-programming to create a number guessing game with their partner. By lunch, we were able to take turns playing each others’ games to show off all of the students’ hard work and creativity! Students really customized the game and made if their own, adding in extra loops to allow users to play again and adding points systems to score the game.

After lunch, we learned about lists, a new data structure. Students practiced this new concept by creating programming that determine whether a word or phrase is a palindrome.

Tomorrow, we will be diving into functions to help us make our code more modular, efficient, and abstract. After some practice with functions, students will begin building a hangman game using both functions and lists.
