Summer SAVY 2017, Session 4/Day 3- Beyond the Pyramids (Rising 1st)

Posted by on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in SAVY.

Dear SAVY Parents,

Another fantastic day in ancient Egypt with your child and their friends!
Today we read the story “Senefer: A Young Genius in Old Egypt”. We learned many things about their economic bartering system, as well as their unique number system. We took some time to practice our Egyptian mathematics in case we want to become engineers like Senefer! We also began looking at some of the Egyptian architecture that they are so famous for!

Tomorrow we will continue to explore the human systems of Egypt and how they have changed over time by looking at social and governmental systems. Tonight, talk with your child about what they know about all the types of workers in ancient Egypt and how they may have interacted while bartering resources, labor, and services. Their group analysis of interactions involving values and price setting this morning were amazing!
We invite you to join us on Friday for Open House, to tour the market place and the “House of Life”! I can’t wait to meet you!
