Summer SAVY 2017, Session 1/Day 4- Bioengineering (Rising 2nd/3rd)

Wow!  Students are really getting the hang of this engineering design method.  Today, students finished and then tested out their ear trumpets. We decided having a bigger funnel at the beginning of the piece works best to channel the sound waves. Students  were then challenged to design a prosthetic leg using some very simple materials including corrugated pipe, plungers, duct tape, towels, and bubble wrap.  They worked in teams which took quite a deal of negotiating and arguing their points of the design. The designs we saw were some of the best! Tomorrow students will learn about some of the amazing prosthetics being designed at Vanderbilt!
