Summer SAVY 2016 (Session 4PM, Day 6) – Story Creations

Posted by on Monday, July 18, 2016 in Grade K, SAVY.

Dear Parents:

Our day began with writing (no surprise). Students had a chance to complete their story starter from Friday. There was silence in the room as students found cozy places to write and worked on their creative stories from the picture they were given to look at.

We then jumped into author’s spotlight where students got a chance to read their stories. We marveled at how different all the stories were, yet they came from the same picture story starter! I worked with students individually to help them add more describing words to their stories. We are really working on write and then write more as part of our POW strategy for writing and planning.
Next, we learned what a personal narrative is and how to write one. We brainstormed ideas we could write about and then students dove into writing their own personal narratives. We will finish tomorrow, and then we will illustrate our personal narratives.

Friday is our open house. It is your opportunity to let your children take you through their story creation writing and learning over the two weeks we have been together. The open house is from 9:00am-9:30am and it is in our classroom, Murray Floor 4.

More pen, once again, tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Ms. Fletcher
