Summer SAVY 2016 (Session 4PM, Day 5) – Capturing Perspective: The Art of Documentary Theater

Thank you for a fun day, and for an accomplished end to our exciting and very creative week! It’s impressive how much we’ve covered, and in so short a time. You’ve encountered samples of Documentary Theatre speaking to a range of styles and approaches. You’ve examined the “science” of storytelling, taking note of the formulas and structures shared by almost all narratives. You’ve conducted literally dozens of interviews, and you have transformed that content into monologues and duologues. And today you served as investigative reporters, taking to the Internet to research a number of topics related to the focus of our piece: an examination of gender inequality. And along the way you’ve also learned a thing or two about jazz and Star Wars. Please enjoy the weekend. I’ll be thinking of you, and of the work we have ahead!
