Summer SAVY 2016 (Session 4AM, Day 1) – Memory and the Brain

Posted by on Monday, July 11, 2016 in Grade 3, Grade 4, SAVY.

Today was the first day of Memory and the Brain, and it was a great day! I met all of the students and WOW, they have so much energy! I think we are going to have a ton of fun. We started out the day by introducing ourselves and playing a game called “Two Truths and a Lie.” Be sure to ask your kids what their lies and truths were, and if anyone was able to guess. Next, we did a few memory games just to see what we need memory for and why remembering some things are hard. For instance, you may think you know exactly what a penny looks like, but do you? Can you figure out which of these pennies is real? ( http://www.exploratorium.edu/exhibits/common_cents/). Finally, we learned the different types of explicit and implicit memory, and designed experiments to test them.
