SAVY 2019: Session 5, Day 5 – Witty Wordplay (Rising 1st/2nd)

Today we wrote our persuasive text. They turned out so well! We have all improved and come so far with using writer’s techniques. We started our day with our favorite warm-up, Unusual uses and this time we had a straw. The creative ideas were flooding in! Some suggestions were blow dart, painting tool, tube slide, putting them together to make a raft and more.

We practiced performing our writing with a microphone so we would not get stage fright, and all went well, so we dove into more writer’s techniques such as Hinky Pinks, Idioms, Puns and story writing. The day ended with free writing. The Open House was wonderful, and I know you were all proud of your young writers. I also enjoyed meeting everyone and I look forward to having your students in more of my SAVY courses!
