SAVY 2019: Session 4, Day 5 – Journey Through Time (Rising 3rd/4th)
We had a wonderful last day in Journey through Time! We started with a review of the Boston Massacre and then turned our attention to the Boston Tea Party. From there, we launched right in the Continental Congresses and the writing of the Declaration of Independence. We discussed what it said, what it did (and what it didn’t do), and why it has remained such an important document across time.
We then examined the Battle of Yorktown and compared it to the Battle of the Spanish Armada, debating which one had the more surprising result. We finished the day by breaking into pairs and creating posters on the cultivation of tobacco in North America and how it changed the world, both good and bad.
It has been a great week! In a short amount of time, we have been able to cover so much, a feat which the students deserve all the credit for. The students have had so many interesting things to say about so many things, I lost count around midweek. I have had such a great time getting to know everybody!
