Summer SAVY 2016 (Session 2, Day 4) – Engineering Policy and Urban Design
Today may have been the most spirited day yet! First thing in the morning, we walked across VU’s beautiful campus to the Civil and Engineering Laboratory. We learned about the project that the lab is currently working on – developing the beneficial uses of fly ash and red mud, and testing these industrial by-products for leaching in water. When we came back to Peabody campus, we headed straight for the computer lab where we completed our research for the stakeholder debate. And what a debate it was! Students threw themselves whole-heartedly into their roles and argued valiantly for their side. However, our ultimate goal is not to assign blame, but rather to collaborate to solve the Harpeth river pollution problem.
