SAVY Tuition and Financial Assistance
A $50 nonrefundable application fee is due at the time of application for Summer SAVY 2020. Students may apply for multiple sessions of Summer SAVY with one application fee. Families applying to SAVY for multiple students are eligible for a $25 application fee discount for all applications after the first child, and a separate application must be completed for each child. The application fee is nonrefundable regardless of a child’s placement or admittance in a course. This may be paid by credit or debit card as part of the online application, or with a check or money order made payable to Vanderbilt University – PTY. A tuition statement will be sent as part of the admissions notification if a student is admitted into a course.
Fall and Spring SAVY
Tuition is $425 per session and includes all course materials and a pizza lunch.
Tuition for Fall 2019 is due Friday, September 6, 2019.
Tuition for Spring 2020 is due Friday, December 6, 2019.
Tuition is $550 per session and includes all course materials. Students should plan to bring a snack, lunch, and water bottle from home each day.
Programs for Talented Youth understands the need for families to plan ahead when thinking about financing summer experiences. In an effort to assist families in this process, PTY has developed rolling tuition and refund deadlines based when a student receives an admissions notification for a session. Families can expect admissions notifications to be sent within three weeks of application submission.
While PTY encourages applicants to submit an application during the Application Priority Window, SAVY continues accepting applications on a first-come, first-served system throughout the winter and spring. Please note, students may be admitted off waiting lists at any point, at which time families will receive an admissions notification for this new enrollment. Families may have different tuition deadlines if they apply to multiple sessions and are admitted off waiting lists on different dates. Need based financial assistance and payment plans are available.

Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth is committed to making programs available to academically gifted students regardless of a family’s ability to pay the full tuition. Therefore, need-based financial aid is available based on income. The PTY application review process is need-blind and does not consider financial status when placing students in courses.
If you plan to apply for financial assistance, please indicate this on your SAVY application. Once indicated, you will be able to complete the financial assistance application online. You may also access the financial assistance application through a paper application. You may apply for financial assistance at any point in the application process. The financial assistance application, along with a copy of your household’s most recent tax return, may be submitted via fax, mail, or email. Please note that email is not as secure as the other methods. Regardless of the submission method you choose, we recommend that you remove all SSNs and/or other sensitive information. Your student may be offered admission before receiving a financial assistance quote. You are not obligated to officially enroll your student until you receive a financial assistance quote. When your quote is received, you may accept or decline the amount and placement in a course.
In addition to providing need-based financial assistance options, PTY also offers all families the option to set up a monthly payment plan for their student’s tuition. A student does not have to apply for financial assistance in order to set up a payment plan. After receiving an admission notification, families interested in setting up a payment plan can do so in their SchoolDoc account. Families interested in setting up a payment plan should navigate to the Account tab and select Set Up a Payment Plan. All tuition must be paid in full by the stated deadline and/or before the first day of the session. SAVY reserves the right to cancel a student’s enrollment if tuition is not received on time.
Summer payment plans allow families to pay equal installments by the first day of each month leading up to the Payment Plan Tuition Deadline of June 1, 2020. Payments are made in equal monthly installments and automatically charged to your credit card or withdrawn from your account. If on a payment plan, no tuition refunds are provided for previously paid installments if a student requests a cancellation. Payment plan options are not available for those who apply or receive an admissions notifications after May 1, 2020.
Programs for Talented Youth works with organizations, companies, foundations, and individuals who are interested in directly supporting students’ attendance through named scholarships. Scholarships are based on criteria defined by the supporting organization, company, foundation, or individual and vary year-to-year. Scholarships, along with criteria, are located on the course page of the specific program session they are associated with. Scholarships range in monetary aid and eligibility requirements, with select scholarships offering full tuition. Use the button below to view a list of currently available scholarships.

The application fee will not be refunded for any reason. A student’s tuition and refund deadlines can be found in the admissions notification email.
Inclement Weather Policy
Weather cancellations are unfortunate for all involved, but the safety of our students and families is top priority. Should it be in the best interest of our students and families that we delay or cancel a program due to inclement weather, we will issue a timely statement to our participants via email and also on our website. SAVY is unable to offer refunds for weather cancellations and/or if students are unable to attend the make up dates, if applicable. As is our policy, the application fee is nonrefundable. No matter the official program decision, it is always most important that each family make the safest travel decisions in regard to their own situation and program attendance.
