Spring SAVY 2018, Day 2- A Great Debate (3rd/4th)

Week two started off with a larger look at philosophy thanks to PBS’ Idea Channel on YouTube. This prompted some pretty deep questions and an excellent discussion, but most importantly, knowledge of how using “absolutes” can weaken any argument. Then, we created a pool of topics for each table of four; thanks to Mr. Hunter for joining a three person team and helping out. Each group chose a topic to debate. Students prepared both pro and con talking points, which is hard when you
really agree with only one side, but we prevailed and ended class with a lively two-person debate. The topic? What makes a better house pet, a cat or a dog? It was a GREAT DEBATE!
