Summer SAVY 2016 (Session 5, Day 4) – Hydrology: The World of Water

Posted by on Thursday, July 28, 2016 in Grade 3, Grade 4, SAVY.

Following yesterday’s discussion of water pollutant problems, the students discussed best management practices that help mitigate runoff problems. The students adapted their city landscape to incorporate these solutions. Each group presented and defended their city plan in front of the class.  Due to rain and other logistical issues, our lab field trip has been postponed until tomorrow.

This afternoon the students cycled through various stations testing the knowledge we have gained over the past four days.  The stations included activities such as creating a cloud in a bottle, building a water filter, and testing the strength of water’s surface tension. Tomorrow we will wrap up the class by exploring hydrology concepts through the eyes of a chemists and biologist!

Students should wear closed-toe shoes for our lab tomorrow!
