Does your child “get lost” in stories? Is your student always asking questions about the books they are reading? Then, Picture Book Extravaganza, an exciting Spring SAVY course, is the class for your kindergarten student! In this course, students will learn through Jacob’s Ladder, which emphasizes advances learning processes that encourages critical and creative thinking about text. One of the creators of this published, high-level thinking process is PTY’s very own, Executive Director, Dr. Tamra Stambaugh. Jacob’s Ladder aids students in learning to ask questions and seek answers in the picture books they hear and read! Students learn to think about books in ways they have never before considered!
Meet the Instructor
Veteran SAVY teacher and Jacob’s Ladder-trained instructor, Dawn Maharaj, will take students on a literary journey during Picture Book Extravaganza. Dawn plans on combining her experience as an elementary classroom teacher, the knowledge she has gained while pursuing her doctorate in Curriculum Leadership, and her expertise in wonderful literature from her current role as a school librarian, to offer students a unique SAVY experience.
