Activities Coordinator Job Description
Job Description and Duties
The VSA Activities Coordinator (AC) will report to the VSA House Master (HM). The AC will be specifically responsible for helping the VSA proctor staff in managing the details for activities and events. In addition, the AC will help manage the VSA office, covering the desk when Residential Operations Assistants are not on duty and may assign tasks to ROA’s as needed. The AC will serve as acting House Master when House Master is off. Activities Coordinator must be at least 21 years of age by start-date of employment. Must also have valid driver’s license and be willing and able to drive VSA vehicles.
A sampling of duties include:
- Maintaining activities calendar
- Inventory and equipment control
- Assisting proctors with detail management of activities and events including but not limited to:
- Procurement of supplies and equipment, as needed
- Setting activity sign up procedures
- Overall Calendar Management
- Leading the advance planning of larger events (i.e. talent shows, dances, large group activities)
- Assisting House Master with travel plans for large group outings, setting meeting locations, pick up locations for buses, departure times, etc.
- Oversight of activity rotation, making sure there is adequate variety/diversity of activities, avoiding over use of any particular activities.
- Taking leadership on advance planning of nightly activities, especially when any special supplies, decorations, equipment will be needed.
- Covering desk in VSA office when needed
- Assisting with medicine distribution when needed
- Assisting proctors and house master with bedtime and lights out procedures
- Serving as stand-in for house master when HM is off.
Activities Coordinator also may need to assist with other tasks as assigned by HM or VSA Program Coordinators. Occasionally, AC may actually be called upon to lead an activity for a group of students or step in with proctor group leadership if a proctor were to become incapacitated.
Activities Coordinator salary is commensurate with experience. This is a live-in position and includes housing and most meals for June and July. Housing will consist of a double dorm room occupied as a single and access to a communal kitchen.
